Following on from yesterday’s array of timber pallet structures, Oliver Lowenstein of Fourth Door Review forwarded another pallet creation from WOMAD’s recent Roots Architecture (RA) event, which featured a sinuous timber-pallet stage by TIYN Tegnestue. The Norwegian practice worked with a team of RA participants, to transform locally-sourced pallets and trusses into the ‘Ribbon Stage’, hosting performances across the weekend:
The design was inspired by a Norwegian mountain landscape, and the triangulated truss structure helped to determine the final form.
Below is Laurence Duck’s time-lapse video showing the pallet construction process:
At the end of the festival, the stage was disassembled back into ordinary timber pieces - ready and waiting for their next transformation.
