Zed Factory’s PortZED development for Shoreham Harbour in Brighton has been refused planning permission in a decision by Brighton & Hove City Council’s planning committee today. The proposed 60+ unit scheme  featured extensive use of PVs and helical wind turbines between the 5-storey blocks and was designed in collaboration with Brighton practice Alan Phillips Architects. Brighton & Hove City Council planning committee cited the following reasons for turning down the application: ‘too noisy, too tall and having an overbearing impact.’  Noise from the wind turbines was one of the major issues.
