AIA announces top 10 green buildings for 2009

The AIA’s Committee on the Environment announced its top ten buildings for the year this week.  My personal favourites are the Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center by Lake/Flato in Orange, Texas (near Houston) and Terry Thomas Architects own offices in Seattle.

This list of ten innovative energy saving technologies includes harnessing the people power of pedestrians and another one that will certainly make my daughter smile: San Francisco collects  pet poop for recycling into biofuel. See number 8 on the list.

London’s abandoned petrol stations to be recharged

American firm Evoasis announced its plan this week to convert dozens of London’s disused petrol stations into electric car-charging points.
