WAF is back in full swing this week, with the London launch of this year’s Festival taking place at the new Figuera’s showroom in Clerkenwell on Thursday evening.
Our refreshed website is up and running http://www.worldarchitecturefestival.com (as you can tell), and most important we are OPEN FOR ENTRIES for the 2011 Awards!
There are a few changes to the awards this year.
First, given the hard economic times many architects are still undergoing, we have institute a ‘two for the price of one’ charging system. The second entry can be for any of the WAF sections and categories - it doesn’t have to be the same as the first.
Second, we are offering discounts to practices who enter this month rather than waiting until the final closing date at the end of June. Quite honestly this is to make the organiser’s life a bit simpler, but it could also save you a bit of money.
Third, we are splitting off the Interiors section this year into a new festival called ‘Inside’. It will be taking place in Barcelona alongside World Architecture Festival, but will have its own space and identity. We will launch Inside at the Milan Furniture Fair next month, so if interiors are your thing, watch out for announcements about entries and the festival programme.
Meanwhile the world of architecture is as buzzing as ever, and WAF 2011 looks set to follow the success of the past three years. It really is three years since we launched this annual event, though it seems like yesterday!
We look forward to another big awards entry from architects around the world this year - and remember: if you enter one building or project, the second one will be entirely free.
Hope you approve!
