Inane chatter of the Church? Trading Talk thinks Yes!

So, it seems the Catholic Church has gone all anti-digital on us again, previous messages from the Church encouraged followers to give up texting for lent, good one. Now were being told “We need to be wary of the inane chatter that can go on in the digital world which does nothing to promote growth in understanding and tolerance,” Errr, what?! I think we need to be more wary of the inane chatter going on in the Church! I’m pretty sure people are more than capable of disregarding things they don’t want to be listening to/reading /watching just like we do on a daily basis in the non-digital world (Second Lifers you may disregard that last bit - wierdo’s!). That’s like saying, ‘don’t go to the library - there are some books in there that you might not want to read’ or ‘don’t go outside – there are things out there that you don’t want to see’ (a bit like my favorite Dirty Dancing line ‘I’m sorry you had to see that Baby, Sometimes in this world we see things that we don’t want to’ ahh I love it!). But seriously guys, don’t worry about us, we’ll be alright, if we don’t want to listen to things, guess what! We don’t! What is it with them and their anti-digitalism?! – Luddites! Although, as Guardian News Blog points out, it was only last week that the Vatican was blessing the internet. I’m sure the internet is very pleased.

Pope2You through Facebook. Amazing but at least the Church is catching onto the growing importance of social networking and the benefits of ‘spreading the Good Word’ through it. Someone should welcome Rev Tartaglia into the 21st century and share with him these benefits. God knows (himself) the Church could do with some good PR today following recent events.
