The new year is a time when the media world tends to overload on lists. Lists are a powerful structure with which to communicate a range of disparate information quickly, easy bite sized pieces of information, all prioritised through ranking. Traditionally, they’ve worked particularly well for men, who have a more organised and rational approach to information gathering. Ultimate homage to the list as a method of organising content is UK magazine brand Short List - and it’s sister title stylist.co.uk.
We of course use lists on a regular basis to help our customers slice through the information haze.
First WGSN list of the year is our Marketing Top 5. Locative Marketing, marketing driven by location-based social networking is my top pick.
